Spirituality meets business. Lessons learned by Bryant Gallindo.

“Who am I?”

The quintessential question that spirituality helps a person answer.

You may think it a simple answer. For me, I could say I am a first-generation Mexican-American that is Ivy-League educated, a Conscious Capitalist, Queer, and from Los Angeles, California. But all of these would simply just be identifiers — methods to put me into neat little boxes to help you understand who I am and how to relate to me.

But I could also answer the question this way: I envision a world where empowered creators connect and catalyze new ideas by bringing forth a space of seamless cooperation and freedom. I do that by empowering individuals to speak from a place of strength and compassion so they can communicate what they want while creating win-win situations in life.

Which one do you feel me more in?

My guess is the latter. And the same feeling and understanding apply to spirituality.

Spirituality goes beyond identity, putting it to the side, giving a person perspectives to view themselves beyond conditioning and constructions of what we believe makes a person who they are. Instead, we look to see what makes their soul come alive.

I call this the Dream State.

The place where everyone can be activated and fully awaken, to the world they wish to create. In the Wisdom Tradition I have studied, this is the point of spirituality: to love, design, and envision worlds where our greatest ideas come alive. To see nothing as separate. We bring everything together, we’re interconnected, and the way you live your internal life (the thoughts in your head, your internal programming, etc.) creates your external reality.

Viewing life from this perspective radically changes how you see the workplace.

Instead of seeing work as a place to come in, do a job, put on a role, and then leave, declassified, work on the other hand becomes a vehicle for your dream. And specifically for what I do, as this shift starts to occur, you learn new ways of communicating this truth to an audience that still remembers you as your former self.

That’s why it’s crucial to learn negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

As you change, the people around you may not. But you still need to have compassion for them and learn how to disagree collaboratively. Staying centered. Balanced. Motivated. And empowered. That’s my task as I teach scripts, move people past their internal programming, and help them change reactions into responses so that difficult situations don’t keep them stuck.

To help people move past their limitations, I use three techniques: eye-gazing, visualizations, and mantra chanting.

For those that are nervous, anxious, or have a hard time finding stillness, eye-gazing creates a safe space where someone can explore being present with someone else. From a spiritual standpoint, as we clear old messaging, eye-gazing helps you “find yourself” and know what it feels like to be fully seen and safe within that environment. Professionally, this means you can be more present during stressful situations and know you’ll be safe.

Powerful for an individual as they then go out and visualize the world they want to create.

The visualization takes eye-gazing a step further and makes the person an active participant in creating the future they want. I lead people through guided meditations that help them view a past self, their present self, and the future self they wish to create. Afterward, they debrief and share what is stopping them from building that future, giving them action steps to go out and accomplish that. Spiritually and professionally, the two worlds start coming together, and a person can begin to see how they can go out and create that.

Mantra chanting is the last technique I use to help remind individuals on a daily basis to go out and create the world they want.

People can lose motivation. Having clients create a mantra that defines their lived experience and what they want to go after keeps them in a highly-motivated state. It has the added effect that they then don’t forget what they’re going after. Spiritually, the quest for self is the same. We need to continue pouring energy into the dream to manifest it. Professionally, the mantra helps guide decision-making while also making sure that people stay motivated.

From a purely practical standpoint, the three techniques bridge spirituality with business.

And as we heal aspects of self via whatever spiritual medium you use, the other parts of you that you take into your workplace also need to change. Whether through negotiations or resolving difficult situations, the way you show up will also impact your spirituality. So, in essence, there is no separation. And bringing together is my life’s work as I help others find the peace and balance to negotiating life’s difficulties with ease.
